Elden Ring is not only a phenomenon among normal gamers but also among speedrunners, who are fighting to be able to finish it in the shortest possible time. Streamer Distortion2 has just released a video in which he proves that he has managed to go below the 30-minute threshold to reach the conclusion of his adventures in the Interregnum. More precisely, it took him 28:59.
Considering that a few hours ago we released a speedrun in which Elden Ring is completed in just over thirty minutes, if it continues at this rate we will soon be under twenty minutes. Distortion2 is an Any% speedrun, a category for which basically the end justifies the means and speedrunners can exploit glitches and bugs to mark their times.
Of course, it is not the case to play Elden Ring like this, but as you well know the speedrunners focus more on speed than on the integrity of the gameplay, so in their case, the use of certain not exactly orthodox shortcuts is justified and, indeed, paradoxically virtuous. The risk for them is that FromSoftware closes certain flaws and prevents other such runs. However, as long as they are there, you can rest assured that they will be exploited.
