As we have seen, Google has released Android 12L along with a new Feature Drop for its Pixels, but the update is not yet available for the newcomers, namely Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. To try the new battery widget introduced with the update on your latest generation Pixel, you have only two options: wait for the firmware to show up or continue reading.
Here’s how to get the new battery widget on Google Pixel 6 without Feature Drop right away
The new battery widget introduced by Google in the latest Feature Drop is quite interesting: it allows not only to have the remaining battery life of the smartphone under control (still visible in the status bar, if desired), but also to know the battery level of the devices connected, such as Bluetooth headphones (including Pixel Buds, with which you can see a separate percentage for right, left and case earphones). Unfortunately, for now, it is not possible to view the battery percentage of WearOS smartwatches, but we are confident that in the future Google can work on it and allow it.
However, there is a procedure to immediately have the new battery widget on board the Google Pixel 6, the only ones in the series that have not yet received the update (probably due to the presence of several additional innovations compared to the other smartphones). This is nothing particularly complicated in itself, but let’s say that you will have to be quite motivated to follow it just to be able to experience the novelty.
The only way to get it right away is to install the Android 12L beta on your smartphone. If you have decided that it may be worth it, perhaps because you were already willing to test the latest version of the robot, you can follow this link, log in and join the beta program by selecting the correct device in the compatibility list.
Once the Android 12L beta is installed, you can find the battery widget on Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro in the list, under “Services for Settings”. If you don’t want to go so far just for a widget, you just have to wait for the Feature Drop to reach your smartphone as well.
