TikTok said on Sunday that it will suspend video live and upload services in Russia, as the company is evaluating the impact of the new media law signed by Russia last Friday.
TikTok said in a series of tweets: We have no choice but to suspend live video streaming and new content uploads while we assess the security implications of this law.
TikTok said it in -app messaging feature would not be affected by the decision. On Friday, Russia signed a bill that would punish the spread of “fake news” about the Russian military with up to 15 years in prison.
