An alleged rendering of a Mac Studio, described as a hybrid of a Mac Pro and a Mac mini, surfaced a day before Apple’s Peek Performance event after multiple parties expected at least one new Mac to be announced.
The renders, shared by YouTuber Luke Miani, show a similar design to the Mac mini, taking up almost the same desk area as previous products, but the high-end model is about 4 inches taller compared to the Mac mini’s 1.4 inches.
According to the renders, the Mac Studio will have an LED light on the front and a cooling design on the bottom. The renders don’t include details on the types of ports included, nor do they reveal the machine’s specs. Apple will “clearly” announce Mac Studio at tomorrow’s event.
Last week, 9to5Mac reported on the existence of Mac Studio, describing it as a hybrid between Apple’s highest-end Mac, Mac Pro, and Mac mini. The publication believes that “Mac Studio” will be the small Mac Pro that Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously mentioned. There are reportedly two different versions of the Mac Studio in the works, one with the M1 Pro chip and the other with a more powerful Apple Silicon processor. The model number is unknown.
Apple is likely to announce at least one new Mac at its event on Tuesday, March 8. Rumors point to a new high-end Mac mini and an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro most likely, but Apple is also working on a redesigned MacBook Air and a new iMac.
