For a few days, there have been indications that Google is planning a new structure for the inbox for its own Messages app. Because the SMS/RCS app theoretically receives a colorful catalog of messages, a little more order and clarity make sense. So the new inbox separates messages of different types.
In one of the tabs, you can see personal messages, in another tab your one-time passwords and in another tab messages for offers. The only challenge for Google and the app is that Messages has to recognize the different messages accordingly in order to be able to assign them. This leads us to the fact that Google has to read our messages a bit for this.
Google Messages: Messages for data donation can be edited manually
Messages might now ask if you’d like to donate your messages. A different kind of data donation, if you will. Google asks you with a message to get access to your SMS. From a privacy perspective, of course. All personal information remains private.
You can also edit the messages to be donated yourself to remove really sensitive data manually. The selection of messages is also customizable.
Google’s analysis is probably more about the usual keywords. But also about the structural structure, which is always quite similar for various messages. Applies especially to the famous one-time passwords. These short messages are really always very similar.
