Boring, a tunnel company controlled by Musk, was preparing to build supporting facilities in eastern Austin, Texas, but this plan appeared to have encountered obstacles.
For the project, Boring submitted a conditional license application to the local area, but Bastrop County put the application on hold on Monday, which means that the project cannot move forward for the time being.
Boring has already obtained a permit to conduct tunneling studies in the area, and recently it applied to build a warehouse, a manufacturing plant, and a parking lot (for 200 cars) on the site.
Boring is also applied to the construction of water supply and wastewater treatment systems. The manufacturing facility occupies approximately 80,000 square feet (approximately 7,400 square meters).
Boring had already placed a group of employees on the Texas site, but placing the workers before obtaining a sewage permit may have violated the approval process.
Boring bought land in Austin, Texas in May 2021, and it is currently digging test tunnels to improve the technology. The construction site has a large tent, several cottages, and a sports field.
What exactly does Boring want to do? It’s going to be tunneled to connect the Gigafactory with important locations in the region, such as the airport.
