The approval process for Tesla’s planned plant near Berlin is in the final stages, the Brandenburg state environment ministry said on Monday. Tesla is awaiting permission to start production at its electric vehicle factory in Grunheide, outside Berlin, and an adjacent battery factory.
A number of public consultations focused on the site’s environmental impact have delayed the process, and Musk has repeatedly expressed anger at the complexity of the German bureaucracy.
German media have previously reported that Tesla’s Berlin plant is expected to receive final approval later this week and hold an opening ceremony on March 22 or 23.
The report also mentioned that on the day of the opening ceremony of the Berlin Gigafactory, Tesla will also deliver the Model Y produced by this factory to some lucky consumers, and it is expected that 30 vehicles will be delivered on-site.
