OnePlus that misses information on its future product is not new, quite the contrary. It is flawless, we could say: if it weren’t for the fact that we are talking about a leaflet at this time.
The Chinese company, in fact, over time has accustomed us to the auto-leak strategy, taking the reins of rumors and creating attention around the upcoming devices with the periodic release of information and teasers.
That he decides to start from afar even for his first foldable, therefore, does not surprise us. Specifically, Gary Chen, software manager for OnePlus, interviewed by Android Central about the work that the company is conducting in synergy with Google on the OxygenOS 13 front, mentioned how the commitment also involves a new category of smartphones: we are talking, of course, about leaflets. Thus confirming, more or less indirectly, that there is a folding OnePlus in the pipeline.
WHICH BEND WILL IT TAKE?
On the other hand, OnePlus and Oppo officially merged last June, and we know that one of the most interesting innovations in the foldable sector is Oppo’s new Find N with its particular compact form factor (we talked about it in our test ).
If there is harmony in the movements of the two brands, then, it is not difficult to imagine a OnePlus interpretation of the same concept. Although a patent surfaced in November which concerned a OnePlus folding with a much more particular form factor, that is, with two hinges, and therefore capable of folding twice.
More unlikely, however, that OnePlus’ first step in the sector will be so risky, while the hypothesis of a “traditional” foldable booklet appears more credible at the moment.
Right now, however, these are only hypotheses: Gary Chen has not biased in the slightest on the nature of the device nor on its launch window, but has simply specified how OnePlus is committed with Google in the development of a renewed experience for OxygenOS 13, and that this work also concerns folding devices – and therefore builds on the work started with Android 12L, the version designed to better adapt the green robot to larger screens, exploiting its potential.
