The LED flash in smartphones has been used as an LED flashlight for many years. But usually just always in full brightness, which is sometimes a bit too much.
With Android 13, Google is finally planning to change these circumstances, as the esper.io colleagues were able to discover in the source code. The user will finally have full control over the LED flashlight and will be able to adjust the brightness.
It can be assumed that initially, only the owners of Pixel phones will benefit from this. As far as devices from other manufacturers go, it again seems to depend on the developers being on the ball and embracing the new possibilities with the Android 13 update.
There is probably no compulsion to do so, although this cannot be clarified conclusively at this point in time.
