We reported a long time ago that Google is making two-factor authentication mandatory for many accounts. But there are still old login methods that are less secure – not only directly for users, but also for accessing apps. And we would like to briefly remind you again, or bring you on board.
To better protect an account, effective May 30, 2022, Google will no longer support third-party apps or devices that only require a username and password to sign into a Google Account.
If you’ve set up 2FA, you’re safe, because this setting isn’t available for accounts that have 2-Step Verification enabled. Such accounts require an app-specific password to access less secure apps.
