Tesla may launch a silver-painted version of the Model Y, as Model Y vehicles in that color were spotted on California roads in recent days with factory license plates. While it may be a version, the factory license plate is reminiscent of the car being painted by Tesla.
A Model Y with a factory license plate was found in Cupertino, California, and it was painted in a matte finish. The footage was captured by Twitter user Michael Kaliterna. There’s no way to know for sure if this is an official Tesla paint color, but the factory license plate casts doubt that a matte silver may be offered as an option on the Model Y in the future.
Given the Tesla factory license plate used for the car, it’s likely the company’s test vehicle, not the employee’s. As early as 2018, many Tesla owners and consumers wanted the company to offer the canceled metallic silver color, but Tesla has been slow to respond. However, the earlier Berlin factory had determined that Tesla would bring a new color scheme to the Model 3.
