According to the latest report, Apple has added Dutch speech recognition support to Siri in the latest HomePod 15.4 Beta 4 beta, further preparing for the HomePod mini to be launched in the Netherlands in the near future.
This means that in a Dutch-speaking multi-person household, the HomePod or HomePod mini will be able to identify who is talking to it so they can make individual requests based on their own data. The feature builds on the addition of Dutch language support to Siri last December.
In addition to the Netherlands, HomePod mini is likely to land in at least four other countries and regions in 2022, including Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, and Russia, as the speaker also gains support for these national languages in the December update.
The previous HomePod 15.3 software update added Siri voice recognition support for English (India) and Italian, including support for up to 6 users in a household.
HomePod mini was first released in October 2020 and is currently available in the US, Australia, Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, Taiwan and the UK .
Apple will start offering the HomePod mini smart speaker in yellow, orange and blue in November 2021.
