Here on the blog in March last year, Benny reported on a Netflix feature called Fast Laughs. What does it all stand for? Well, basically you string together short video clips that should serve as a laugh in between. These are funny excerpts from Netflix’s in-house productions.
Previously, this feature was only available in mobile apps. The streaming provider is now also introducing them for Smart TVs and media players such as the Apple TV 4K.
If you’re already frantically jumping to the TV and looking for Fast Laughs: Unfortunately, for the time being, the fast laughs are reserved for selected regions. Specifically, these are currently English-speaking areas such as the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
However, it is obviously still an experiment and not a broad introduction. Netflix probably wants to wait and see how the Fast Laughs are received by the first TV users.
At the end of the day, Netflix is just jumping on the short video trend a bit. You want to offer quick entertainment, but certainly also encourage people to watch new series of films if the short excerpts are liked.
