One of the peculiarities of last year’s telephony was the arrival of proprietary chipsets, especially for imaging, which affected the Xiaomi, Vivo and OPPO flagships. But if we take the work of Lei Jun’s brand specifically, the next top range will be the first to have two self-developed chipsets, which could have interesting implications.
Talking about this very curious possibility was the leaker Digital Chat Station, who explained how Xiaomi has decided to take the next step regarding the equipment of its top range. In fact, we will soon have the first of the company to equip itself with the Surge C1 (the self-developed ISP) and the Surge P1 (the one designed for recharging) integrated together, which has not yet been implemented.
We say this because the Surge C1 was the protagonist of the equipment of the first Xiaomi folding, the MIX Fold, while the Surge P1 is integrated on Xiaomi 12 Pro. Therefore, it will be necessary to understand who among the potential Xiaomi 12 Ultra and MIX 5 can have such complete proprietary equipment.
The idea, more likely, is that it could be the new exponent of the MIX series, as the insider talked about tuning so, considering that the possible Ultra is not far away, the other solution seems more likely.
What will be interesting is to understand how Xiaomi will integrate this combination, without considering the main SoC, if the smartphone will be of considerable size, or if we will see new forms of optimization.
