The social network Snapchat introduces the possibility for users to subsequently change their name on the platform. Tests have already been carried out with this feature, but the new function will be rolled out across the board from February 23, 2022.
It will then be possible to change your own username once a year within the Android and iOS apps. This should not affect friendships, snap codes, snap points, memories, etc. in any way. According to Snapchat, the feature is particularly important for trans and non-binary members to be able to express their identity.
Here’s how the username change works:
- Tap the Bitmoji icon in the top left corner of the Snapchat camera to go to the profile.
- Select the Settings option. To do this, tap the gear icon in the top right corner of the profile.
- In the settings, tap on “Username” (2nd field directly below “Name”) and select “Change username” (marked in blue).
- A pop-up reminder usernames can only be changed once a year, click Next.
- Enter the new username, click Next, and log back into Snapchat to complete the change.
