After launching the developer preview version Beta 3 yesterday, Apple today pushed the third public beta update of iOS/iPadOS 15.4 to iPhone and iPad users.

In iOS 15.4 Beta, iPhone’s Tap to Pay has been enabled, but it needs third-party suppliers to add support, and it is not yet available for normal use. However, there is a new “PaymentReceived” sound file and picture showing the Tap to Pay interface.

In iOS 15.4 Beta 2, Apple added support for “tap to pay on iPhone”, which allows NFC-compatible iPhones to accept payments through Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets without additional hardware. Currently only supported in the US.

iOS 15.4 Beta also brings new Emoji 14 emoji characters, including melting face, biting lip, heart-shaped hand, bubble, bean, slanted face, palm up, egg, troll, low battery, coral, lotus, etc. 37 new emojis.

In the iPhone 12 series of phones, Apple has introduced the option to download iOS system updates using 5G cellular data. At present, some iPhone 13 users have found that they can also use cellular data to download iOS system updates under 4G networks. The software update interface shows that Apple will inform users through a pop-up window that they can use cellular data to download, but may need to pay separately.

At the same time, Apple has also fixed the problem that the iPhone storage space under the iOS 15 system is difficult to open or waits too long to open. After the iOS 15.4 Beta 3 update, the opening speed is significantly faster.

Additionally, Apple may be planning to roll out support for digital IDs and driver’s licenses in iOS 15.4. There isn’t much evidence yet, but the PassKit code mentions this feature.
