Microsoft data shows that as of December 2021, only 22% of customers in various industries using Microsoft’s cloud identity solution Azure Active Directory (AAD) have enabled strong authentication protection measures.
In the year from January to December 2021 alone, Microsoft blocked 25.6 billion brute force authentication attacks against AAD and blocked 35.7 billion phishing emails with Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Microsoft said.
Microsoft Defender for Office 365 provides automated attack remediation for Office 365 business email accounts and protects them from threats including business email compromise and credential phishing.
In November 2021, Microsoft also updated the Microsoft Defender for Office 365 security features, launching Defender built-in protection for Office 365 to ensure that all new and existing users get at least basic protection.
