Google is now offering Search Chips to all Workspace users, including G Suite Basic and Business subscribers, which are making file searches on Google Drive easier. Released as a beta version last November, the feature lets you narrow down search results by location, file type, date modified, people, tasks, and shared tags.
As Google demonstrates in the GIF above, you can use Search Chips by typing keywords into Drive’s search bar, just like you normally would. Just below the search bar, you’ll see six different drop-down menus for searching for chips. Location, file type, people, last modified, only titles and to-dos.
Selecting from these menus will filter your search results accordingly – for example, by clicking on Locations you can press Anywhere in Drive, My Drive, Shared with Me, Starre and obsolete filter your results.
