Although many people think that Google’s folding screen smartphone project has been frozen, recently there is news that it is still active. The Foldable Pixel “Notepad” is said to be smaller than the Galaxy Z Fold 3 (or even the unannounced Galaxy Z Fold 4) and features an LTPO display that supports a high refresh rate of 120Hz.
If the news is reliable, we may usher in this surprise in the fourth quarter of 2022. DSCC CEO Ross Young has said: For undisclosed reasons, Google canceled the previous order, perhaps the tech giant was not satisfied with the quality of the display panel and was looking forward to a more durable version.
Compared with traditional flat-screen smartphones, flexible folding screens still need to work hard to overcome the shortcomings of fragility-even if Google needs to pay a higher cost for this, but the rumored high-end device priced at $1,400 is obviously not in the market. Too much crotch on this.
The latest news is that @DSCRoss disclosed that the new panel is expected to be put into production in the third quarter of 2022, and will be officially released sometime in the fourth quarter.
One guess is that the tech giant may stage a “Pixel Notepad” episode during the Pixel 7/7 Pro launch. Specs-wise, early reports suggest that Google is working on a second-generation Tensor custom chip, which is expected to be used on all three devices.
While using a 120Hz high-brush LTPO internal screen, it is unclear whether the Pixel “Notepad” will also use an OLED external screen. However, what ultimately affects consumers’ purchasing decisions depends on whether Google can optimize the software and hardware experience in place.
