On February 14, data released by the China Passenger Car Association showed that Tesla sold 59,845 vehicles made in China in January, exported 40,499 vehicles, and sold 19,346 domestic retail vehicles.
At present, the Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory has already undertaken heavy responsibility for Tesla’s export. Because of the lower production cost, the domestic Tesla produced by the Tesla Shanghai factory has a price advantage compared with the United States.
However, the production capacity of Tesla’s China factory did not meet the needs of domestic consumers for the first time. Tesla’s official website shows that the current order for Model 3/Y still needs to wait for 3-4 months.
At present, the rear-wheel-drive version of the Tesla Model 3 is priced at 265,600 yuan after subsidies; the high-performance version is 339,900 yuan;
The Model Y model, because the starting price exceeds 300,000 yuan, does not enjoy subsidies. The rear-drive entry version is 301,800 yuan; the long-range version is 347,900 yuan, and the high-performance version is 387,900 yuan.
In addition, the Shanghai Tesla Super Factory has delivered more than 400,000 vehicles in 2021, reaching 413,283 vehicles. The Shanghai factory has become Tesla’s global production base.
In January of this year, Tesla sold 59,845 vehicles. According to this calculation, the production capacity of the Shanghai factory this year can exceed 700,000 vehicles.
At present, preparations for the construction of the third phase of Tesla’s China Shanghai Gigafactory are in progress, and the area will be doubled compared to the current proportion.
