After launching the developer preview version Beta 2 yesterday, Apple today pushed the second public beta update of iOS/iPadOS 15.4 to iPhone and iPad users.
iOS 15.4 Beta adds support for Face ID with masks and introduces universal controls. When paired with a Mac running macOS Monterey 12.3, Universal Control allows multiple Macs and iPads to be controlled with a single mouse and keyboard.
In iOS 15.4 Beta 2, Apple added support for “tap to pay on iPhone”, which allows NFC-compatible iPhones to accept payments through Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets without additional hardware. Currently only supported in the US.
In iOS 15.4 Beta, iPhone’s Tap to Pay has been enabled, but it requires third-party suppliers to add support, and it is not yet available for normal use. However, there is a new “PaymentReceived” sound file and picture showing the Tap to Pay interface.
Additionally, Apple may be planning to roll out support for digital IDs and driver’s licenses in iOS 15.4. There isn’t much evidence yet, but the PassKit code mentions this feature.
