For Tesla, the safety of supercharging piles is also worth considering now. The charging cables of Tesla’s supercharging piles are frequently stolen, which has brought huge trouble to the car owners and Tesla.
Some time ago, a set of photos uploaded by some users showed that there were 8 supercharging piles, all without charging cables, and these cables were cut off from the roots, just because the copper wires in these cables could be sold for money.
According to the report, when the owner of the supercharging station in Oakhurst, California, was ready to charge, he found that all the charging piles of the charging station were damaged and the charging cable was stolen.
In order to prevent such incidents from happening again, Tesla also released a trick to set up a solar-powered version of the “security device” next to the supercharging pile.
The “security device” is equipped with surveillance cameras, as well as “shouting loudspeakers” and sirens. If someone is found to have stolen the cable, the thief will be warned.
However, there are a large number of Tesla charging stations, and whether relying solely on this “security device” can have an anti-theft effect, the actual effect remains to be tested.
