GTA 6 has been officially announced, but that doesn’t mean we’re about to start seeing a new round of GTA 6 information. Take-Two CEO Zelnick told IGN that future announcements of GTA 6 are entirely up to Rockstar. In other words, Rockstar controls when to announce more news about GTA 6.
In an interview with IGN ahead of Take Two’s earnings report, Zelnick said that their labels (companies) always decide when and how to announce their future products, including the recent GTA 6 confirmation. Zelnick added: Obviously, people need to stay tuned, there will be a lot of new information to come out, and Rockstar will do that in time. The goal of GTA 6 is naturally to surpass GTA 5.
“With all of our successful series, each generation has always done better than the one before it,” Zelnick said. “I’m not saying that’s going to happen again, I’m not saying it’s guaranteed, but obviously that’s our goal.”
The global sales of “GTA5” have exceeded 160 million, and the game has been on sale for nearly 9 years, so it is difficult to say whether “GTA6” can achieve or exceed this goal at the same time.
The great success of GTA5 is especially thanks to GTAOL, the online multiplayer mode that has been making GTA5 popular for nearly nine years.
GTA 6 is said to not be released until 2024 or 2025. Compared to “GTA5”, “GTA6” will be smaller and will continue to have content updates after the game is released.
