An improved taskbar design is coming to Windows 11, but that doesn’t necessarily mean everything is flawless. Living proof that the existing taskbar actually lacks basic functionality and needs extra polish is the number of suggestions for this category in the Windows Feedback Hub.
As you can see in the screenshot, there are hundreds of votes for Taskbar-related requests, with users calling for Microsoft to add more functionality to the Taskbar.
I stand by all the suggestions…make the taskbar fun and functional again, just like Windows 98, you can put it anywhere, resize, group icons, etc…. .. the way it is now… feels like a failed Apple app,” someone said in a comment posted on the Feedback Hub.
The good news is that Microsoft is listening to user feedback and the upcoming Windows 11 update this month will come with additional taskbar improvements.
The update won’t include everything users have been asking for, but at the very least, it’s a step toward making the taskbar easier to use in general.
“Next month we’re bringing new experiences to Windows, including a public preview of how you can use Android apps on Windows 11 through the Microsoft Store and our partnerships with Amazon and Intel, ” Microsoft said in last month’s announcement.
Improvements to the taskbar, muting and unmuting calls, easier window sharing and bringing weather tools to the taskbar, and the introduction of two new redesigned apps, Notepad and Media Player.”
There’s no telling when the next Windows 11 is supposed to go live, so now that Microsoft has proven to the world that it’s listening, it also needs to find a way to deliver all these improvements in time.
