Konami updated the global sales of the Metal Gear series, as of December 31, 2021, the cumulative sales of the series exceeded 58 million units. Compared with the data in March 2021, the sales of the Metal Gear series increased by 900,000. Recently, Konami pulled Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 from the digital store due to license expiration issues.
Konami explained that this is only a temporary solution until the problem is resolved, but as of now, Konami has not released an update on the matter. Both games were removed from the shelves in November last year. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Metal Gear series, but Konami has been fairly quiet, despite the company’s claim last May that multiple key projects are in deep development.
