Rumors of a new Vivo NEX device have been sporadic, but they have been increasing recently, with some rumors about the NEX 5 last month, which was previously said to include an under-screen camera, just like the APEX 2020 concept.
Equipped with a 7-inch or 6.78-inch quad-curved display and 40W or 50W wireless charging. Now a new leaked render has appeared online, purported to be the Vivo NEX 5. The leaker is quoted as saying that the image originated from the official website.
The image also mentions February 2022, which could be the launch date for the device. But it was previously reported that the NEX 5 should launch in the second half of 2021.
The rendering itself also clearly shows not a four-curved design, but a more traditional display surface on either side and the device in the picture is clearly equipped with a traditional rather than an under-display selfie camera.
On the back, we can clearly see the text “50MP GN1”, which refers to Samsung’s 1.2μm 50Mp ISOCELL GN1 camera sensor, along with a periscope-style telephoto lens on the bottom right.
Previous leaks have suggested that through a joint effort between Vivo and Zeiss, the next flagship model is expected to offer 5x optical zoom technology, a partnership between the two manufacturers that was established as early as 2020. At present, Vivo has not officially mentioned the NEX 5, and we still know little about other hardware details.
