NFTs have been a lingering topic in the gaming industry lately. This field has its own economic potential, but many of the players who are really invested in it are not players of the relevant concepts (not even in tech).
Both Xbox and Valve have publicly criticized the direction of NFTs and the Metaverse, while Ubisoft and Square Enix appear to be very interested in this area.
So what do companies like Nintendo that tend to stick to the traditional way think about NFTs? Surprisingly, Nintendo’s view on this is relatively neutral.
In Nintendo’s most recent quarterly earnings meeting, when it came to the metaverse and NFTs, Nintendo said they were more interested in NFTs and their potential, but for the time being, they don’t know how to use this area to “bring joy” to users.
This is actually a problem that all manufacturers in the industry have not figured out clearly when facing this field. Everyone does not know how NFT should be used.
Team17 and GSC Game World quickly canceled the NFT plan after being madly sprayed by players, while Sega and EA directly stated that they would draw a clear line with NFT.
