Following an announcement last May, the chat app Discord now finally allows users to link their PlayStation Network accounts. The two companies hope to provide a more tightly integrated experience on console/mobile devices, and although the current level of integration is relatively limited, subsequent expansion is quite worth looking forward to.
In addition to its partnership with Sony, Discord is also working on an interesting account management feature that I hope you all enjoy. Once you’ve linked your accounts, you’ll be able to see which games your Discord friends are playing, and optionally import your PSN ID into your Discord profile so others can easily add friends.
This account linking feature is currently being pushed in the US and is expected to land in more markets in the coming week. Interested friends can open the Discord mobile app and check whether there is an option to add a PSN ID in “Settings → User Settings → Links”.
If you see the PlayStation logo, you can then click on it and enter the correct login credentials to complete the account linking. Finally, getting through PSN isn’t the only feature Discord is working on, as the company is still experimenting with improving the account switching experience.
