Presented at the turn of 2021 and 2022, Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro have brought several innovations to the plate, including the one that uses CyberFocus technology. For the new generation of its top-of-the-range, Xiaomi has chosen to integrate innovation in its photographic sector that derives from a completely different product.
You will probably remember CyberDog, the robotic dog able to move autonomously thanks to a high-profile hardware department. And it is precisely from this device that the technology that enriches the multimedia potential of the Xiaomi 12 series derives.
The Xiaomi 12 camera has CyberFocus technology: that’s what it’s for
After their presentation on the market, Vice President Zeng Xuezhong took the ball to explain the mechanics of CyberFocus technology on Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro. This technology is at the service of autofocus, also based on the surveys conducted by the same company.
According to him, what users have complained about the most among the common defects of smartphone cameras is the instability of autofocus. It will surely have happened to you that, in some circumstances, the smartphone camera was unable to hold or focus on the subject in the frame.
Given what has been achieved on a technological level with CyberDog, Xiaomi has decided to take the CyberFocus technology and put it on its smartphones. There are artificial intelligence algorithms at play to allow the focusing system to more accurately detect the contours of subjects, be it people, animals, subjects, or landscapes. An advancement that affects both the quality of focus in photos and videos.
Normally, a camera distinguishes an animal based on the contours of its face: with CyberFocus, on the other hand, the system sees the contours but also the eyes, nose, mouth and so on.
Even when it comes out of the frame, the system will have memorized its features so that you can refocus it as soon as it returns to the frame. In order to carry out the calibrations on duty, the photographic engineers carried out the tests involving Peach and Fortune, the two mascot dogs who live in the Xiaomi headquarters.
