Apple’s first special event of 2022 is rumored to bring an upgraded Mac mini with both M1 Pro and M1 Max chip options, according to the leaker. Apple is expected to unveil some new products at its special spring event, with strong candidates including the iPhone SE and iPad Air upgrades with 5G capabilities. The list of new products could include the long-rumored redesigned Mac mini.
According to reliable leaker @Dylandkt on Twitter, Apple’s spring event will feature a Mac mini with M1 Pro and M1 Max. If true, this would give consumers a choice of a pair of faster processors above the M1 that was included when it was originally released.
In a further explanation, Dylandkt confirmed that a “new design is coming” for the Mac mini. Previous leaks and rumors have suggested that the Mac mini will be redesigned to be thinner, have a polycarbonate top, an increased number of ports on the back, and support for Magsafe power cables.
The leaker’s tweet also said that the Mac mini won’t necessarily be the only Mac on display. A revival of the iMac Pro is rumored to be “still in progress” and will also be released in the spring, increasing the chances that it will be included in the launch.
However, Dylandkt also raised some doubts, as he has learned concerns about production.
On Sunday, Dylandkt said on Twitter that there will be a new version of the M1 series chip that will outperform the M1 Pro and M1 Max, using a 12-core CPU. The iMac is mentioned in the code associated with it, and the chip is expected to be present in the iMac Pro update.
