The upcoming Steam Deck can run a ton of popular AAA titles, and now a new discovery suggests that God of War 4 may be among them. According to Gaming On Linux findings, the game is set to be out of the box on Linux. Thanks to Proton, a compatibility layer that allows Windows-based games to run on Linux, Steam Deck will also use the same compatibility layer.
Gaming on Linux pointed out that God of War 4 may experience some serious stuttering with NVIDIA’s GPUs, as typically graphics-intensive games developed for Windows and Proton take time to build shader caches. It’s unclear if these issues will show up on Steam Deck, it’s worth noting that Steam Deck uses custom AMD RDNA2 GPUs, not Nvidia’s.
Valve confirmed last week that Steam Deck will be released on time in February 2022.
