Apple accepted a price increase package to take down TSMC’s 120,000-150,000 4nm production capacity. According to supply chain industry sources, Apple’s self-developed new-generation A16 application processor has completed the design and finalization, and will use TSMC’s 4nm N4P process for film production. It is expected to enter mass production at TSMC’s Fab 18 plant in the second half of the year.
It is reported that Apple’s A16 application processor will be equipped with products such as the new generation of iPhone 14 and iPad. Due to the shortage of wafer foundry capacity, Apple has accepted price increases to ensure production capacity and has contracted TSMC’s 120,000-150,000 4nm production capacity.
According to industry sources, the average price of TSMC’s 16nm and optimized 12nm, 7nm and optimized 6nm, 5nm and optimized 4nm and other advanced processes will increase by about 8-10% in 2022 compared with 2021, and the price of 4nm used by Apple’s A16 processor will also increase because it is the largest customer, the increase will be lower than other advanced process customers.
