The Google Assistant is the little helper on your smartphone. However, many functions are only available in English. For example, since 2020 it has been possible for the Google Assistant to read websites aloud with the right command. This is now also possible in German and with a link.
Google Assistant – read aloud web pages at your fingertips
After calling up a website or an article and the Assistant command Read it loud/read it/left it … depending on what the Assistant currently accepts for a command, the article is read aloud.
With Android 12, the Assistant has now received a link for reading aloud on the Pixel Phones, which works independently of the language. You open Chrome and select an article to read aloud. Then you open the assistant with a swipe of your finger from the lower corner of the display. Before you give an order, you will now see the two buttons Lens and Read out loud.
When the doorbell rings, the player opens and the text is read aloud. You have the option to increase the playback speed up to 3.0 times or to share the text readout using the share button. Every user to whom you send the read-aloud link will also receive the text read-out. If necessary, you can use the three dots in the top right to change the reading voice (male or female).
It is possible to deactivate reading via the player. If you click the Lens button, the Lens interface opens and it is possible to translate the text, for example.
