The well-known tweeter ModernWarzone recently tweeted, criticizing the recent games of the Call of Duty series for being a mess. From Warzone to Call of Duty 18: Vanguard to the professional league to the amateur league, it’s all bleak.
In response, Robert Bowling (2006-2012), the creative strategist of the former Call of Duty developer IW, issued a reply, saying that Call of Duty needs revival, not iteration.
It’s time to build from the studs up.
We need more than iteration, we need revitalization.
A focus back on core gameplay and not content gateways.
We used to treat our players like community and not consumers. We brought them in to the fold for map feedback not market feedback

- What we need is not just iteration, but revival.
- Bowling said the Call of Duty series can benefit from returning to core gameplay instead of content channel.
- We used to treat our players as communities, not customers. We brought them in because of map feedback, not market feedback.
Bowling is now the leader of the Midnight Society studio, a newly established studio that hopes to lead a new era of online PvP multiplayer games. Halo Infinite developer Quinn DelHoyo is the creative director of the studio, and well-known anchor Dr. Disrespect is also a member of the leadership team.
