In an interview with robotics scientist Lex Fridman, Elon Musk said that the Tesla robot will not only be a repeatable robot. A humanoid robot for sexual tasks, may develop its own unique personality and become a human partner. He said that Tesla robots may become human partners like C3PO (the ceremonial robot in Star Wars).
Musk announced the Tesla robot plan earlier this year. It is a humanoid robot that can complete repetitive tasks and helps solve the problem of labor shortage. When asked in an interview whether to consider making Tesla robots human partners (such as assistants or friends), Musk replied, I think there are unlimited possibilities. Humanoid robots that help humans in various ways are very meaningful to the world.
Musk said, Over time, the Tesla robot will develop its own personality, and will not be the same as other robots. Its personality matches the user.
Fredman suggested that Tesla robots that can alleviate human loneliness will face great opportunities. In the interview, Musk did not disclose the exact time when the Tesla robot will go on sale but said that it is expected that good prototype products will be developed before the end of next year.
