The app that brings Android Auto to Tesla is available to everyone

There are numerous standards regarding the association of a smartphone with a car infotainment system and among the solutions most appreciated by Android users, there is probably the one developed by Google, namely Android Auto, which however is not always supported. Tesla’s most popular electric vehicles.

We remind you, in fact, that the US company specializing in the production of electric cars prefers to focus on an onboard infotainment system based on a customized Linux distribution and tightly integrated with the car’s hardware components.

And if the community that revolves around Google has yet to develop a system to completely replace Tesla’s solution with Android, for the car owners of this brand the possibility finally arrives to enjoy the experience of Android Auto thanks to a new app called TeslAA.

How the TeslAA app works

Born from the idea of the developer Emil Borconi, already known for the AAWireless Project, the TeslAA application has been in the testing phase for several months and after a long period of testing the application is finally available for everyone.

The method of operation of the TeslAA app is quite simple, as after installing it on your phone you need to connect it with the car via Bluetooth and then connect the Tesla Wi-Fi to the smartphone hotspot and go to www.androidwheels.com using the Tesla browser: if everything went well, the Android Auto screen should appear at this point.

The TeslAA application streams the Android Auto interface from the smartphone to the built-in browser of the Tesla dashboard via a local VPN interface and those who decide to buy it must be ready to endure a few small bugs (such as disconnecting the car from the ‘Wi-Fi hotspot when the phone loses the signal for a long time). The app can be purchased on the Google Play Store for € 4.99.
