Samsung treats the Galaxy Watch 3 to a series of novelties with the latest update. It concerns a number of improvements that we know from the Galaxy Watch 4. The update is also already available on the Galaxy Watch Active 2.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 Update
During the holiday season, Samsung will treat its Galaxy Watch, 3 users, to an important software update. It adds a whole series of watch faces that we know from the Galaxy Watch 4. Also important is the addition of a widget for group challenges. You can compete against your friends in it to be the first to reach a step goal. This is how you earn badges and points.
Furthermore, Samsung has also added the ‘High sensitivity’ for fall detection. That is a new function that you can activate from the settings. With high sensitivity, your watch will detect more falls, including during sports activities. This function is therefore primarily intended for less active people who run a higher risk of falling.

How to install the update
You can update your Galaxy Watch 3 in the Galaxy Wear app. The app may suggest the update itself, otherwise, you can have it search for it manually. You do this from Settings > Watch software updates. The update has a firmware version ‘R8x0CCU1CUK2’ and takes up 50 MB according to Galaxy Club. The improvements are now available in the Netherlands and Belgium and also for the Galaxy Watch Active 2.
In October, Samsung released a major update to its Galaxy Watch 4. New dials and high sensitivity to fall detection were part of the package of new features. The Galaxy Watch 4 was the first watch to appear with Wear OS 3. All of Samsung’s older watches run on their own Tizen system, and they don’t upgrade to Google’s operating system either.
