At the Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Annual Summit held this Tuesday, Google Cloud and Qualcomm collaborated on the development of Vertex AI Neural Architecture Search (NAS). Google describes it as a search technology used to generate, evaluate, and train application model architectures.
The focus of the cooperation between the two parties is to realize the automatic creation of artificial intelligence models and reduce manual workload. According to Qualcomm, once combined with Qualcomm’s artificial intelligence (AI) engine, NAS will be used to “accelerate neural network development and differentiation for Snapdragon Mobile, ACPC, XR, Snapdragon Ride automotive platforms, and IoT initiatives.
Google Cloud Vertex AI NAS will also be integrated into the chip manufacturer’s neural processing SDK for developers to use. Qualcomm said that platforms that use AI engines will be able to take advantage of optimization and performance improvements. This cooperation will first be offered on the new flagship product Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform, and will eventually be promoted in other products of Qualcomm.

Ziad Asghar, vice president of product management at Qualcomm, said: The ability to use Google’s NAS technology to create and optimize new artificial intelligence models in a short period of time is a change for our business. We are very happy to be the first company in NAS. It is a chipset company that cooperates with Google Cloud and is eager to introduce this technology to further promote our momentum in connecting the intelligent edge.
