In the Windows 11 preview version released a few days ago, the new taskbar function allows users to quickly mute/unmute the microphone. In the newly released preview version, Microsoft has added a keyboard shortcut for this feature, which can be switched through the combination of Win + Alt + K, but the shortcut is currently only available for Microsoft Teams.
The universal Windows 11 mute function requires the user to manually click the microphone icon on the taskbar. This icon appears next to the WiFi or Ethernet, volume and battery icons, and you can simply click on it to mute and unmute the microphone in just a second. Microsoft said: You can see the audio status of your call, what application is accessing your microphone, and quickly mute and unmute at any time.

Microsoft has updated the mute switch of the taskbar to support the new keyboard shortcut WIN + Alt + K. To use the new mute function of Windows 11, just press WIN + Alt + K. As mentioned at the beginning, you will need to work in an application that supports the mute button. Currently, only Microsoft Teams supports it, but Microsoft said that third-party applications will also get support for Windows 11’s new taskbar silent switch.
