Microsoft just updated the Android/iOS version of the authenticator (Microsoft Authenticator) application, bringing new security features to corporate users and IT administrators. The company pointed out that some of these features are already generally available, and the rest are also being released in the form of public previews. The main changes include the introduction of a new number matching experience in push notifications to enhance user login security and reduce accidental authorization.
As shown in the figure, after enabling this feature, the authenticator will remind the user to enter the two-digit pairing verification code on the screen. In addition, Microsoft Authenticator can directly provide additional context in the push notification, and when enabled, it will display the application name and the IP-based login location prompt.
For organizational customers who have enabled Microsoft Authenticator but have not configured it properly, this update also allows IT administrators to perform registration operations. That way, the next time an employee completes multi-factor login verification using a less secure method, the system will remind them to set something in the authenticator and use it as the default authentication method in the future.

Finally, Microsoft introduced a new setting that allows IT administrators to restrict employee resource access to specific residences (geographical locations). Once enabled, the Microsoft Authenticator app will require users to share their GPS location information during the login process.
At present, the above improvements are being gradually pushed to all corporate customers, and Microsoft encourages everyone to actively submit feedback on the portal.
