On some social networks, it is very easy to create fake accounts from scratch: some do it for fun as evidenced by the numerous satirical accounts on the web (there are hundreds of them on Twitter), but others use this possibility to write hate messages or simply to send spam messages.
Instagram wants to verify identity with a selfie video
Instagram is about to put into operation a new system that provides for identity verification with a selfie video. The company in force in Meta will use this feature to train the algorithms of its artificial intelligence so that they can verify that the account was created by a real staff.

Obviously, privacy management is a very important aspect and Instagram reveals that every selfie video will be deleted after 30 days, will only be visible to the company and no biometric data will be collected for use by face recognition technology. To date, it seems that identity verification on Instagram with selfie videos is required only for the creation of new accounts; old users, in fact, should not receive this request from the company.
