EA posted on official Twitter today that it will change the epic skin of the expert character Pyotr Boris Gunkovsky in Battlefield 2042 because it inadvertently involves real-world issues, which violates the values โโof the creative team. EA did not specify which skin will be changed in the announcement, but in a later reply it was confirmed to be the “Little Green Man” skin.
Little Green Man is generally used to describe aliens, but it is also another name for Russia’s secret militants during the Crimean crisis in 2014. This is not the first time a bad name choice has appeared in a Battlefield game: in Battlefield 5, a villain Nazi was named Wilhelm Franke until it was discovered that the real Wilhelm Franke in history was an anti-fascist in Germany during World War II.
The skin name change will be carried out in a future update, and EA did not comment further on this time. Players who have pre-ordered the Gold or Ultimate Edition of Battlefield 2042, or who have subscribed to the EA Play Pro service, can now play the game. For other players, the game will be open to playing on November 19.

Today you helped inform us about a name we use for a Skin in Boris’ Mastery Tiers.
It unintentionally references a real world issue, and isn’t reflective of our team’s values.
We’ll be changing the name in a forthcoming update, and appreciate it being brought to our attention. pic.twitter.com/Zzxc5dt8EW
