WhatsApp is preparing to introduce an unprecedented feature called Community: we had already talked about it about a month ago, when, however, the confusion about its meaning was still too high to be able to have a precise idea of what it really was. WABetaInfo preferred to wait a few weeks, and now it is unbalanced by showing us the first screens and illustrating the mechanism in its general aspects. To find out, even more, it will be necessary to wait for WhatsApp to release the tool in the first Beta for iOS and Android.
The WhatsApp Community can be explained as a group or group. It is a tool that will allow administrators to create a maxi group chat which, however, always remains a private chat protected by end-to-end encryption. Nothing to do with a social network, so to speak. Administrators will always have the right to send messages and to insert new groups within the Community. WABetaInfo gives a couple of examples to clarify the functioning, such as that of a degree course (Community) composed of all teaching classes (Community groups) which in turn include students (members of each group).
Therefore administrators can:
- Create a Community
- Send messages
- Add new groups
- Invite other people to join the Community manually or via links
Join RealMi Central on Telegram, Facebook & Twitter
The tools in the hands of administrators will certainly not be limited to those listed above: to find out more, you will have to wait for the first Beta, including information on what individual user-participants can and cannot do. Unfortunately, nothing else is known, neither about the functions nor about the release date. What is certain is that development is underway on iOS and Android.
Last detail: The icon of each Community should be different than that of groups or individual users. In fact, the shape appears to square with slightly rounded corners.
