Let’s go back to Android 12L, a special version of the mobile operating system of the Mountain View giant announced at the end of last month, on the occasion of the annual Android Developer Summit. Google presented Android 12L as a feature drop, that is, that particular type of updates that are released quarterly and that bring numerous innovations to the Pixel range, adding that it will only be available starting next year in the final version (at the moment, in fact, development and testing works are not yet finished).
To make Android 12L particularly interesting there are above all the optimizations and features specially designed by the Mountain View giant to enhance the potential of folding devices and those with large screens (first of all tablets), such as a series of improvements for the notification system, for quick settings, for the unlock screen and for the homepage or a special two-column interface for devices that can boast displays with a density higher than 600 dpi.

Android 12L has more surprises in store for us
But, according to what was unveiled by Mishaal Rahman on Reddit, among the novelties of Android 12L there would also be a pre-installed app called Cross-Device Communication Service, found in the first Developer Preview of this version of the OS.
This application (whose package has the name “com.google.pixel.Exo”) should be the one created by the Mountain View giant to allow users to take advantage of the expected streaming service between Google Pixel smartphones and Chromebook devices. Rahman was able to install the APK of this application on a Google Pixel 3 XL updated to Android 12 and, while not being able to make it work, he noticed an activity called “nearby calling” which should allow users to receive incoming calls to your Nest Hub, transfer calls between your phone and Nest Hub, and initiate calls with your voice. This feature is expected to be exclusive to Google Pixel smartphones. We’ll see.
