For a few days, Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro have been officially on sale in the eight selected countries, and the numbers speak of great success, given that Google is having many difficulties in supplying. If the performance seems to convince everyone, what so far puzzles is the fingerprint reader, which is not particularly fast in recognizing touches.
It is not just the performance that is of concern to users, who also think about the possibility that the fingerprint reader, placed under the screen, will stop working if the screen is replaced. We are obviously not talking about Google’s official assistance service, but rather about third-party services, which could be preferred due to a lower cost.
The risk, according to some, is that you are in the same situation as the Touch ID of the iPhones, which did not work if not replaced by official centers. In reality, Google seems to be more permissive, according to the new tool just released. In fact, a new option has appeared within the Pixel Update and Repair tool, linked to the fingerprint reader.

The tool, accessible at this Internet address, now allows you to install the fingerprint reader calibration software, obviously only on Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. In the description of the function, Google explains that it is required if the screen is replaced. The software supports Pixel 6 and 6 Pro.
In the unfortunate event that the screen needs to be replaced, it will be necessary to run the reader calibration tool, as well as a factory reset, in order to ensure the perfect operation of the device. Of course, we advise against testing the new tool, as you would have to perform a full reset before you can use your smartphone and fingerprint reader again.
