About a month ago YouTube Music landed on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 thanks to Wear OS 3, but today the Mountain View giant says it’s also available on some older devices that don’t run the new version of Wear OS.
The app currently works with select smartwatches, but Google says it will expand support to more wearables running Wear OS 2 later this year, according to the company’s press release. In addition to Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, supported smartwatches include Fossil Gen 6, Michael Kors Gen 6 (based on the same hardware), Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3, Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 LTE, and Mobvoi TicWatch E3.
The YouTube Music app for Wear OS is installed as part of the full app available on the Play Store. In addition to the basic controls and the ability to Like songs, the smart downloads feature allows you to automatically select new songs and save them in the smartwatch memory via Wi-Fi.
YouTube Music now has over 50 million paying customers, a milestone the company claims it has hit sooner than expected.
