According to FCC documents, Apple’s Watch Series 7 is equipped with a new module that can realize 60.5GHz wireless data transmission, but this function may only be temporarily reserved for Apple’s internal use. The document indicates that the 60.5GHz module of the Apple Watch Series 7 will be activated only when it is placed on a dedicated magnetic base with a corresponding 60.5GHz module, but the base may be reserved for use by Apple employees. For example, the dock used in the Apple Store to restore the Apple Watch wirelessly.
According to documents first discovered by Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Tom O’Malley, the model of the dock is A2687 and is powered by the USB-C interface. These documents were submitted at the end of August and were published last week. It is not clear whether this technology appears in consumer usage scenarios, such as the long-rumored iPhone without an interface. Apple has not announced the release date of the Apple Watch Series 7 watches, only that it will be available later this fall.
