Apple today pushed out developer previews of multiple systems, and also brought HomePod 15.1 Beta updates to HomePod and HomePod mini. The HomePod Beta update is for invitation only and is not provided to developers for testing, but 9to5Mac confirmed that the Beta version includes lossless audio and Dolby Atmos support.
After users upgrade the iOS system and Home App, they can see the two new options in the settings. Apple also explained the role of each option:
- Lossless audio: Lossless audio files retain every detail of the original file. Enabling this option will consume a lot of data.
- Dolby Atmos: Play songs supported by Dolby Atmos and other Dolby audio formats.
The official version of HomePod 15.0 was pushed yesterday, but there is no lossless audio and Dolby Atmos. These two functions have been in the testing phase, and when the official version will be launched is still unknown.
