Using WhatsApp it can happen to receive unwelcome messages from contacts that are not within the circle of trusted ones. The popular messaging platform provides for these circumstances the option to report the contact and chat in which they were published to WhatsApp.
The current mechanism provides that, by clicking on the Report button, the last five messages received by the offending contact are forwarded to WhatsApp, without the contact being informed; the contact will be blocked and the chat deleted.
A new feature in development will allow you to report unwanted messages with an even greater level of precision, facilitating the task of moderators who will have to ascertain any violation of the rules. It will be possible to report even a single chat message – no longer automatically the last five.
The operation is very simple: simply select the message you want to report and click on the Report (Report) button that appears in the context menu. The next step will give you the option to block the contact or not.
This feature is currently rolling out to users taking part in the beta test program activated on Android and iOS. More specifically, the colleagues of WABetaInfo report that the function was active in the beta versions 2.21.190.12/2.21.190.11 for iOS and 2.21.20.1/2.21.19.15 for Android; these are versions compatible with the new option which may still require server-side activation.
Still, on the subject of managing messages and chats, we remind you that WhatsApp is developing functions for the transcription of vocals into text, and for the synchronized cancellation of chats on connected devices using the multi-device option.
