Switch OLED will be officially on sale on October 8th this year. Although the official promotional videos and the initial impressions of the major game media have given us a certain understanding of it, the device has now appeared in some offline retail stores in Japan. VGC reported that many retailers in Japan, including Nintendo’s own Tokyo store, have already exhibited Switch OLED.
Alex Aniel, the Japanese business manager of Limited Run, was able to capture some photos of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe running on the system–noting how vibrant the new 7.0-inch OLED screen is. Obviously, a smaller frame is also an improvement.
Here are some other photos-the first is the system behind the glass cabinet (provided by @nattu_ninmosa59), and the second batch of photos is also from Nintendo’s Tokyo store (thanks @bunnagashi)-showing the Splatoon on the new monitor 2 and Metroid Dread.
The new base that matches the OLED model includes a LAN port and will be able to receive updates. In fact, Nintendo has already launched an update for it in version 13.0.0 of the system firmware. Earlier this week, the company also announced that it would lower the price of basic model systems in certain regions of the world. It is worth noting that this does not include the United States.
